"Catholic hierarchy should implore forgiveness from lesbians and homosexuals...who were jailed, tortured, and killed" in the past. The pontiff as part of the millennium-related Day of Forgiveness, sought pardon for the church's treatment of hebrews women, and native peoples as well as for the Crusades, the Inquisition, and other actions that injure Christian unity.
