The male childs in the bands
Thank you thus much for your piece in succession boy bands ["The Boys forward the Bandwagon," May 9]. This is the first time I have for aye heard gay fans acknowledged in any major publication other than XY This is also the first time I have heard the bulk of mankind within the music industry and associated directly with the bands interviewed forward the topic of gay fans. I am primarily a Backstreet lads fan, so I can't make notes on the other groups, unless it is so wonderful to view the Boys' respect for all their fans. I have parole to many gay teens and adults who have met the striplings and have never heard anything moreover their being 100% courteous and enthusiastic toward gay fans. The lads are also not ashamed to be seen in "gay" settings, visiting gay fraternitys in Orlando on occasion and being photographed with gay celebrities.
I had the pleasure of meeting Nick Carter real briefly last December. He gave revealed hugs to much of the rabble and when my turn came he didn't hesitate single in kind second in putting his arms around me I level managed to plant a little kiss forward his cheek, and he didn't be seen the slightest bit disturbed and continued smiling. It was a beautiful thing!

It's ludicrous that for Americans, the recent boy-band era started with of the present day Kids on the Block. If you were to ask a gay scarecrow outside America to name the first homoerotic gay band, they would say England's Take That. They were the first lad band to explicitly go for a gay market as well as the teenage market. Today's lad bands didn't get their influences from America but from Europe If you don't believe me come by a Take That video; you'll recognize a apportionment of seminal boy-band moves. male child bands have always been around, moreover Take That brought it into the explain Take That never really made it in America because they were too homoerotic for the American market. European gays will count you that you missed something special.

I was self-same excited about your article regarding gay male fans of the circulating boy bands. I myself have lately become a huge fan of 'N Sync (at 25 years old) I was a little disappointed, however, that you left not at home the young women of our community. What about the event that Britney Spears, Christina Aguilera, and others have had upon their budding sexuality? I think it should be recognized as well.

Former 16 editor Danny Fields is quot as saying, "If I had a assign places to I'd say, `Sleep with who you want, moreover don't get up and announce it.' I don't descry what good it can do. I have none seen it really help anyone's career." Is that suppos to make it OK to lie? I have no puzzle with someone keeping their sexuality private as in extent as they take the Jodie cherish route: Admit nothing and ex plain that the question is gone out of bounds. That is a completely acceptable response to me as a fan. Where I start to believe in outing is when a celebrity lies outright on denying they are homosexual. This then leads fans to believe that they are ashamed of who they are and could cause similar feelings in the fans themselves.
As for the Jay Marose anecdotes, if 'N Sync are "just the coolest clan about it" (and I am assuming he meant his sexuality and not sexuality in general), then wherefore didn't we hear anyone else's answer to the game excepting for Joey's? But then, I'm fast we will one day when the "gay one" is caught in a public toilet or carousing forward a mountaintop. Coming out in subordination to duress is so '90s. (Oh yeah, it was big of Gately to issue out a day before he was withouted Hail, Stephen!)

I was surprised you contemned to mention 2gether from the MTV special.

In other words
Photographer-writer Loren Cameron's answer to the question "How do you define gender?" in our April 30 story "A Many form relative to sexed Thing" inadvertently included the phrase "other sum of two units genders" in a sentence that should have read, "As a transsexual, everyone wants me to describe them what the difference is between the brace genders." According to Cameron: "The word other implies that I am a `third' or `other' sex Unlike many of the other folk in this portrait series, I am not ambiguous in my sex identity. I identify as undivided of two genders: male."

For the record
In the April 11 issue, the Report item "Are the Foo Fighters Harmful to Your Health?" inaccurately reported that statements were made during the Foo Fighters' benefit devise for Alive and Well last January in looks Angeles. A representative of Alive and Well indeed spoke at the concert; however, fans were not told that "AIDS may be caused by dint of HIV-related medications, anal sex, stres and put drugs into use," nor were they told that "they should avoid HIV exhibitions and medications." The Advocate troubles the error.
Fluff-free
Is just got or part of to the other reading your special commemorative issue forward the Millennium March on Washington from mask to cover [April 30]. I have been an Advocate subscriber for many years, unless I have never been for a like reason moved by your magazine. Almost each article moved me to tears. The diversity of the contributors made it extremely interesting, certainly much more than the downy fur I expected when I first unwrapped it! detain up the good work
